Rebecca Anderson, Fulbright Scholarship Winner

Rebecca Anderson, who is currently in a doctoral program focused on children's literature in the English Department at Illinois State University, has received a Fulbright Grant as an English Teaching Assistant in Turkey for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Rebecca will be placed at the university level and plans to engage students in a mutual exchange of understanding cultural identities as she teaches English to the students. She also plans to volunteer in primary schools, drawing on her TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) training, and as a side project, pursue Turkish folklore research.

Rebecca has presented at numerous conferences and has several years of volunteer teaching experience, both of which helped her submit an outstanding application and succeed in being named a Fulbright Scholar.
