Rafiq Ahmed, Fulbright Scholarship Winner

Rafiq Ahmed, a May 2006 graduate with a B.A. in French and an Italian Studies minor was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to do an English Teaching Assistantship in South Korea in 2006-07.

Rafiq plans to teach in more than one international setting after graduating. His love of languages and travel have driven his studies while at ISU and he is excited for the opportunity to teach in South Korea and after that looks forward to possibly teaching English in France; eventually he hopes to pursue a graduate degree in International Relations or law and work for an international agency. In addition to teaching English in South Korea, Rafiq hopes to expose his students to our culture while learning from them in unique and diverse ways. Outside of the classroom, he hopes to get involved in soccer and/or musical arts because they cross language barriers and have universal appeal. Rafiq was involved in ISU's French and Italian conversation hours, College Democrats, and volunteered as a STAR tour guide for Admissions. He was awarded a Rotary International Exchange Student Scholarship in 01-02 and studied in Toulouse, France.
