Lauren Fraser, Fulbright Scholarship Winner

Lauren Fraser, a May 2006 graduate with a B.A. in German Education and a Mass Communications minor, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to do an English Teaching Assistantship in Germany in 2006-07.

Lauren plans to be a high school German teacher and eventually get a graduate degree in either pedagogy or International Relations with a focus on the German/American or Trans-Atlantic relationship. She hopes to do her Fulbright teaching assistantship in eastern Germany. She spent a year in the west in Freiburg, Germany, on a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) fellowship in 2005. In addition to her desire to teach conversational English, she wants to use her Fulbright to gain more cultural knowledge of the country and volunteer at different political/social institutions. Lauren served as president of the German Club at ISU, campus coordinator for Americans for Informed Democracy, and is one of 15 DAAD Young Ambassadors. She wants to instill a love of the German language and culture in her future students and looks forward to spending another year in the country.
