Honors House

Students in the Honors Program may choose to live in Honors House, which is located on floors 5, 6, and 7 of Atkin-Colby Hall. Honors House offers select social, cultural, and intellectual programs for students.

Members of the Honors Program Student Assistants Leadership Team (SALT) organize social and academic activities for residents to get to know each other and to learn outside of the classroom.

Honors House residents also have the opportunity to take advantage of the nine-month housing offered in Atkin-Colby. Atkin-Colby stays open during Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring breaks, allowing students to stay for all, or any part of the breaks. Also, students are able to move in to Atkin-Colby earlier than into other residence halls, which is a good way to avoid the long lines and crowds often associated with fall move-in.

Any Honors student is welcome to participate in Honors House activities, regardless of whether or not they live there. Residents of Honors House must be members of the Honors Program, except for rare exceptions after the interests of all Honors students are met. Space is limited, so interested students should complete the housing selection process as soon as possible.

Non-Honors Roommate Policy

Due to housing demands for the 2008-09 academic year, only current students were able to request a non-Honors roommate during the housing contract renewal process, which was February 25 - March 7, 2008. For the 2008-09 academic year, students new to Illinois State, either freshmen or transfer, are not eligible to request a non-Honors roommate.
