Purpose/Description:
Phi Sigma promotes research in the biological sciences and fosters interaction between faculty and students in the Department of Biological Sciences.

Membership Criteria:
Undergraduate members of Phi Sigma must be juniors or seniors majoring in Biological Sciences with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Membership Costs:
A one-time $55 fee.

Membership Benefits:
Members become part of the only nationally recognized honor society for the biological sciences. Members also receive a one-year subscription to the journal "BioScience".

Undergraduate members are eligible to apply for an R. D. Weigel Research Grant, which is a competitively awarded grant that supports original research and is awarded during the spring semester to support research to be conducted during the following twelve months.
