Phi Eta Sigma

Purpose/Description:
Phi Eta Sigma encourages and rewards academic excellence among first-year students in institutions of higher learning. It is the nation's largest and oldest honor society for college freshmen.

Membership Criteria:
A cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above at the end of either the first or second semester of the freshman year is required.

Membership Costs:
A one-time fee of $45.

Benefits of joining Phi Eta Sigma include an impressive entry on a resume and graduate applications, opportunities for valuable leadership and organizational experience, a chance to become more involved on campus and to meet new friends, and opportunities for scholarships.
Every year the chapter gives away local scholarships in the amount of $100 and provides members an opportunity to apply for the $1,000 national undergraduate and $2,000 graduate scholarships.
