Advising

Academic advising at Illinois State University is an integral part of the educational process. Working in partnership with advisors, students learn about academic policies, procedures, and university resources to develop strategies to pursue their individual educational goals.

Who Should See an Honors Advisor?

Freshmen

During the fall semester, freshmen Honors students are required to meet with their Honors advisor prior to the advanced registration period for the spring semester. In the spring, freshmen Honors students are strongly encouraged to meet with their Honors Advisor to discuss fall registration.

Older Students with Honors Questions

Although upper-class students and transfer students are advised primarily by their Department/School advisors, they may also consult with an Honors advisor.

New Honors Students

Students who enter the Honors Program after their first semester or after transferring to Illinois State are advised primarily by their Department/School advisors and are welcome to meet with an Honors advisor if they have questions about the program.
